Annual Sports Day

DPS Durg celebrated its Annual Sports Day- 2019, on 20th December 2019 amidst great mirth, verve and camaraderie. The hon’ble Guests gracing the event was Shri Rohit Kumar Jha, Additional Superintendent of Police, Durg and Shri Udaybhan Singh Chauhan, Additional Superintendent of Police, Rajnandgaon. Mr. Vivek Varma, Pro-Vice Chairman DPS Durg presided over the event. Present on the occasion were Mr. Anupal Sagar, Principal DPS Durg, members of the PTA and a large gathering of Parents.

The Principal extended a floral and formal welcome to the Guests and dignitaries and shared a brief report of the School’s Sports activities and achievements of students. This was entailed by the hoisting of School Flag and declaration of the Meet Open by Shri Rohit Kumar Jha, Additional Superintendent of Police, Durg, followed by the lighting of the flame by the School’s Sports Secretaries and releasing of balloons, to mark the expression of joy and merriment.

The Guests were accompanied by the Principal for the inspection of School and House Appointment Contingents followed by a drill of the School Appointments and subsequently a spectacular and well- synchronized March Past by the four House Contingents of the Senior and Primary Wing student rendering the parent spectators, speechless and awestruck.

There after the Guest administered Oath to the School Appointments.The most intriguing aspect, embellishing the event was the field Display based on the theme “Fit Body, Fit Mind, Fit Environment”, involving mass student participation which splattered on the field, a riot of hues and vibrance. The displays included ‘Sun- the source of energy’ by classes Pre Nursery to II, “Yoga Sadhna” by classes III – V, “Sports India” by classes VI – VIII (Girls) and “Fit India Plays” by Classes VI – VIII (Boys). This entailed Track events including 4 races by the Pre- Primary Wing, 2 races by the Primary Wing and 6 races by the Middle Wing and Senior Wing. In the subsequent Prize Distribution, the Winners of various events were given medals, trophies and certificates.

The Best Athlete Boy of the Pre-Primary Wing was Nitin Deshmukh of class I- F, Vindhya House and the Best Athlete Girl was Aaratrika Goel of class I- F, Aravalli House.

The Best Athlete Boy of the Primary Wing for classes II & III was Evan Bennet of class III-A, Vindhya House and the Best Athlete Girl was Kavya Vishwakarma of III - E, Shivalik House.

The Best Athlete Boy for classes IV & V, was Anmol Sharma of class V- G , Vindhya House and the Best Athlete Girl Riya Deshmukh of class IV- F, Vindhya House.

The Best Athlete Boy for classes VI & VII was of class Aaryan Agrawal, VII – F, Shivalik House and the Best Athlete Girl was Darshnika Mishra of class VII- A , Nilgiri House.

The Best Athlete Boy for classes VIII & IX was Navneet Maravi of class IX-B, Nilgiri House and the Best Athlete Girl was Bipasha Roy of class VIII- G, Nilgiri House.

The Best Athlete Boy for classes X - XII was Vivek K Chaturvedi of class XI – H, Nilgiri House and the Best Athlete Girl was Nutan Biswal of class X- E , Vindhya House.

The Nilgiri House was adjudged the Best House, in the March Past and also the overall Best House in sports events.

The zealous parents, gathered in large numbers, constantly applauded the participants of the Field track displays.

In the Closing Ceremony, the Meet was declared closed and the School Flag was handed over to the Principal, after a Slow March, by the Sports Secretaries. The lit flame was put off with the Beating of the Retreat.

The programme was co-ordinated and compered by Ms. Zohra Husain, Incharge Activities, Middle and Senior Wing and the smart student anchors of the Field Displays were Drishti Singh, Aviral Chaturvedi, Khushi Singh & Channasya Komalpatti. The Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Gagan Inder Singh Virdee, Co-ordinator-P.E. The Meet saw its culmination with the National Anthem.
