Kite Festival 14th January 2020

Markar Sankranti which marks the gradual end of winters and the onset of summers was enthusiastically celebrated at DPS Durg with its vibrant Kite Festival. The students and parents of Delhi Public School, Durg celebrated the ‘Kite Festival’ in the school campus on 14th January, 2020. The Principal Shri Anupal Sagar inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp followed by Ganesh Stuti presented by the Primary Wing students in a dance form. Among other dignitaries present were Ms. Anjana Jha (HM- PPW & PW), Mr. K. S. Bisht (HM- SW) and Mr. R.C. Dwivedi (SM-MW). The event kicked off with the principal flying the first kite of the festival.

The essence of Makar Sankranti, Pongal Lohri and Bihu was beautifully depicted in the form of symbolic four state exhibition put up by the students. Various cultural programmes were presented by the students right from the tiny tots of Pre Primary Wing who presented a foot- tapping Bhangra, to the Senior Wing student who presented the South Indian Dance and Garba befitting the occasion. Primary Wing students also came up with dazzling solo performances. The stage was thrown open to the parents as well to perform and as expected the parents didn’t disappointed the audience and mesmerized everyone with wonderful performances.

Numerous activities were also organized like Colouring contest, Rangoli, Kite Decoration and Twinning: Look- Alike contest for the parents and children and they enthusiastically took part in all the contests. The main attraction for the day was the Ramp-walk by the parent and child dressed alike walking hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, adding a colourful aura to the festivities. We had around 81 participants in Kite Decoration contest, 30 in Colouring, 27 in Rangoli and 47 in Twinning: Look - Alike contest.

People flocked around the food stalls different states to relish the traditional cuisines. These stalls added a zealous atmosphere to the festival .Vibrant colourful kites adorned the bright and serene sky of DPS Durg. The festivities came to an end with the felicitation of the winners of various contests.
