17th Annual Day Celebrations at DPS Durg

DPS Durg celebrated its Seventeenth Annual Day on Tuesday the 28th January, 2020 amidst great splendor, mirth and zest. Hon’ble Shri Amarjeet Bhagat, Minister for Planning, Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Protection, Planning Economics and Stastics and Culture, Government of Chhattisgarh was the Hon’ble Chief Guest on the occasion. Shri Arun Vora MLA Durg was the Guest of Honour. Among the other dignitaries present were Dr. Himanshu Dwivedi Managing Editor Haribhoomi & Member, Managing Committee, DPS Durg, ShriVivek Varma Pro-Vice Chairman, and Principal Mr. Anupal Sagar, Mr. K.S. Bisht (Head Master), Ms. Anjana Jha (Head Mistress) members of the PTA, Press, parents and students.

The programme commenced with the welcome of the guests followed by the lighting of the Ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest Shri Amarjeet Bhagat, Guest of Honour Shri ArunVora accompanied by the Principal and other eminent dignitaries. The Principal, Mr.Anupal Sagar welcomed the guests and the gathering and shared the School’s achievements through the Annual Report of the past session. Meritorious students were given prizes for excellence in Academics. The Academic Awards ceremony was conducted by incharges Ms. Moushumi Mukherjee and Ms. Mamta Patel. The Best

House for the session 2018-2019 was won by the Shivalik House headed by Ms. Nandini Ghosh. The Cultural Programme based on the theme ‘Celebrating Life’ comprised a Welcome Song, Dance Drama ‘Dharitri’ eulogizing Nature and celebrating its beauty and benefits, fusion folk ‘Revelling Extravaganza’ with its Indian and International Folk Dances Chhatisgarhi, Arabian, African, Brazilian, Russian, Mexican, to name a few, filled with hues and vibrancy in its energetic and foot tapping moves, an orchestra ‘A Percussion Ensemble’ comprising students playing musical instruments synchronizing in rhythm with the mellifluous serenading of the School’s budding music talents , Hindi Skit’Behtar Samaj ki Oar ‘projecting aspects of Corrupt and law flouting Society to indicate how positive transformation of such society could usher in Celebration of life, a tableau ‘Jashn-e-Zindagi ’presenting how festivals in their various colours and moods became a reason for celebrating life, BasketBall Dance, ‘The Dribbling Moves’ showing how a sport can take a dance form to express merriment and positivity, an English Skit ‘A Lovely Morning’ portraying the idea that true celebration of life is manifested in spending mornings in fruitful, healthy, harmonious and pleasant way.

Some of the previous year students Arpita Kar, Anushka Sharma, also performed. The cultural programmes were conceived by Head Mistress, Ms. Anjana Jha along with the Music Department comprising of Dr. Sarmishtha Nandy, Ms. Shraddha Kashyap,Ms. Deepika Nandy and Mr. Subrato Baidya.

The students of the school had put up an exhibition of Science & Maths models and Art expressions, which were greatly appreciated by the Chief Guest and parents. This show was coordinated by HOD Maths, Mr. Umesh Kumar Jha, HOD Science, Ms. Mridula Saha, HOD Art, Mr. M.L. Baral and In-charge Activities, Ms. Seema Singh.

Mr. Arun Vora contended that DPS Durg standing firm and indomitable for 17 years is an institution for imparting great education. He stated that smart classes are being initiated in the state and DPS Durg has already taken a lead in doing so since long apart from grooming students in extracurricular and co-curricular activities. He appreciated the school for facilitating and achieving excellence in foreign languages like French also and thus providing exposure of the world to students. He stated that a student’s prime duty should be to honour parents & teachers.

Dr. Himashu Dwivedi opined that DPS Durg is a reputed school of Durg and the credit for taking it to such height of success goes to the rentlentless and dedicated efforts of its teachers. He further added that DPS Durg excels in all fields of learning and congratulated the school for the carving a niche for themselves.

The Chief Guest Shri Amarjeet Bhagat in his address contended that progress of any state is reflection of the level and quality of its education. He said that DPS Durg is a school where students are excelling in all fields like sports & cultural aspects apart from academics. He opined that DPS Durg is a school excellent education and the Principal & teachers are constantly working towards its development.

The Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr.K.S Bisht Head Master Senior Wing.
The Programme was compered by Zohra Husain,In charge Activities.
The smart anchors of the cultural items were Drishti Singh, Aviral Chaturvedi, Nishant Hariyale, Tanushka Grover, Kritika Ramteke, Kajal Jamdare, Anukriti Kumar, Aman Tiwari and Sneha N. Koshy.
The programme culminated with the National Anthem.
