Kite Festival (PW and PPW)

Delhi Public School, Durg celebrated Kite Festival on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, Lohri, Pongal and Ardh Kumbh on 15th January, 2019. Parents and students of classes Pre-Nursery to V were invited. The school campus was beautifully decorated with colourful kites and parents as well as students were traditionally dressed. The Principal, Shri Anupal Sagar inaugurated the occasion by lighting the ceremonial lamp followed by flying the kite thereby opening the kite flying activity. The students had an exciting time by participating in the kite flying along with their parents and in no time the bright blue sky was beautifully adorned by vibrant coloured kites. A replica of a village scene was beautifully depicted in the form of huts, has stacks, sugarcane, earthern pots, tribal art and was also adorned by radiant and traditional Rangoli of flowers. The significance of Pongal, Makar Sankranti, Lohri and Maghi was explained by students of class V. Various activities like Kite Decoration Contest, Ramp Walk – by Parent and Child, Folk Dances was also taken up with great enthusiasm by the students as well as the Parents. Around 55 parents-students participated in the Kite Decoration Contest, Winners for the same were also felicitated by giving prizes at the end of the program. Moreover around 200 parent-students very sportingly and happily walked the ramp all geared in traditional attire. Numerous dance performances solo as well group by the DPS, Durg students had left the audience spell bound. Last but not the least Food stalls of few states i.e. Punjab, Gujrat, Andhra Pradesh catering to typical cuisines added to the essence of the occasion.

On 15TH January, 2019 a Kite Flying Festival was celebrated by Primary Wing and Pre – Primary Wing of Delhi Public School, Durg. The school was beautifully decorated with colourful Kites. Highlights of the celebrations was Kite Flying, Kite Decoration Contest, Ramp Walk – Prents and Child, Dazzling Dance performances and last but not the least Food Stalls of States like Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Gujrat catering to the essence of the Festival. Around 600 – 800 parents participated in the event. 55 parents and students participated in the Kite Decoration Contest. Nearly 200 parents all geared in the traditional attire walked the Ramp with great enthusiasm.The bright and beautiful blue sky was adorned by vibrant coloured kites. A typical village scene was also beautifully depicted in the form of huts, earthern pots and traditional flower Rangoli. Students had a great fun at the school.
